Day Trip To Bern
7th April, Thurday --Gosh, the weather was not at all good. It was raining, a little. Despite the rain, it didn't dampen my spirits to go to Bern together with Anja & Mami. Anja goes to Bern everyday for school, or rather college. The whole journey there takes her 2 hours to go, & another 2 to come home. Wow.
When we reached Bern, we went to have lunch. Chinese lunch ! WOO HOO ! I finally have a chance to show my ability in using the chopsticks. Yeah, as if it was something mystifying. Hah. Anyway, turned out that they had curry on the menu! Double Woo hoo! However, it wasn't spicy at all. I thought that it was more sweet than spicy.
After lunch, we went of Anja to her college, & then Mami & I started our tour in the ' Alt Stadt' , old city. However, it hasn't stopped raining since we got there. We went through the shops & of course H & M. Gosh I love that shop! We also went to the Parliament Building as there were new water fountains newly installed. There were 26 water jets installed which represents the 26 cantons in Switzerland. The stones on the floor were stones gotten from Graubunden. To me, the water fountains were pretty cool. However, it seemed to fascinate the little kids more. After all, I'm not a kid now, am I ? =P
Mami & I visited a music shop, clothings boutique, book shops, etc. Of course we couldn't miss going to Munster-Turm Bern. It's a huge Christian church. The architecture was stunning, especially the ceilings & windows. Stunning. We went up 256 steps (i think) till we reached the 1st stop. We were officially 46m above ground. The view from up there was nice.
Bern is actually a pretty old city, not as 'happening' as Zurich though. HOwever, it was still nice, in a different way. From the top, I could see the river surrounding the land. Again, we continued another 90 steps up & thus we were officially 64m above ground.
When we came down, we went for a drink. Of course lah, after a climb like that, we need a drink, what else? We then continued our Bern trip by going to GLOBUS, & other shops too. We wanted to go to the place where they kept the bears, but as we were running out of time, we didn't go.
At 5.30, we met up with Anja at the station & Anja & I took the train down to Zurich while Mami met up with a friend for dinner. Every Thursday, Laura would meet up with her friends in Zurich & Anja& I were invited to join them. Among them all, I've already met Carol, Cindy & Simon. As Carol & Cindy are Laura's best friends, I've met them before during a sleepover at our place. As for Simon, Carol's bf, I met him in St. Moritz snow-kiting.
For once, Papi's so-called ' 4 outdoor girls' were out that night & Papi, the ' only out-door-guy' has to have dinner by himself. Hehe. That day was a nice day. Why?
1: Mami bought me a book, Angela's Ashes & a picture book on Bern.
2 : I bought myself a blaser from H&M & a top from Sisley.
3 : I received 2 mails ! One from home-home Mummy & Chonghui! & another from sweet Izra. It's a very nice feeling recieving mails from friends & family. Muach more meaningful than e-mails. Not that I'm saying e-mail or not goo d lah, but there's a huge difference. Thanks guys ! =) Really made my day too!
4. I recieved a phone call from ol' pal Sharmin! It was great hearing from her. We chatted for quite some time as we haven't met since the AFS Orientation Camp in Barau. As she would be coming to Zurich on Friday, I would be going too, to meet her of course! Miss all of them very much....
Ahh....what a day....! =)
