1st Day Of School

Today, after a 3- week- long holiday, I've finally started school. Frankly, I was really scared to start school.Why? 1, I don't know anyone there, 2,I only can understand not much Deutsch, 3, it's a totally whole NEW PLACE & PEOPLE!!!! That's why!

Mami & I went to the office at 10.15 to meet Herr(it means Mr) Buechler. Walking to the office, I could actually 'hear' my heart beating! That was how nervous I was!1 girl from my class, 2B came down to meet me & brought me to my class.My 1st class was economics. I went in the class & the students in the class were pretty nice. Some came up to me & introduced themselves & I also did go up to the other people in my class & introduced myself.

At 10.30, the economics teacher came in. Of course, as the new student, I had to make a presentation. Luckily for me, I asked Mami to draft out a short speech in Deutsch for me to memorize...hahaha...Thanks for the tip Sharmin! Well, I made my speech in Deutsch, sat down, & the class started. I couldn't understand at all!! Ok lah, only a little bit, with the help of one of my classmates. He was really nice to help me understand what the teacher was talking & teaching about.

At 11.15, the bell rang.Well, in this school, or maybe all the schools here in Switzerland, it wasn't the loud ring we have back in M'sia. It was more like erm....a more melodious & mellow ring through the speaker. For us, it was time for lunch/ break.

I had my meal with my classmates at the 'aquarium'.They all call it the aquarium coz the architecture of this building really does look like an aquarium. Made of lots of glass. Really modern. I wouldn't know that it was a school if no 1 told me.

After lunch, it was time for me & another couple of classmates for History. Well, I understood a bit coz today's topic was Monarchy & Republic, stuff we learnt in form4, but still the spelling was a bit different, & I counldn't understand everything the teacher said. But luckily, a classmate helped me too.But as the econs class, I sat there copying stuff I didn't understand...hahah....

Next class, Geography, something I never had at form 4 & 5. Today, we learnt about the Russian landscape & stuff. The classrooms here are really cool! I don't mean to sound so 'jakun', but seriously, the classrooms here are much better than the ones in M'sia! Not to mention the toilets are much, much cleaner too.The blackboards well, u could push it up & down, & also flip it... When it was time to use da projector, all the teacher had to do was press the button on the remote control & all the blinds outside the window would cover the windows. Next, we watched a video in class.How? U know some rich people's houses have those kinda home cinema set? Yeah, we had that in our classroom, or maybe all the classroomS. We watched a video on people living in Russia on THAT!

Meanwhile, all of us got the plan for the special week in Autumn. It is all the projects which are planned for us & we have to choose which project we want to join.It is a MUST as this is a school activity. We don't have ANY choice.Well, let me see what do they have....Hmm...things like trips to Venice for Art & Culture; Trips to London for Theatre week; Music & Culture in Hamburg; Trips to Spain, France, around Aarau (which I wouldn't want lah coz I can go there anytime I want, it's my school wat....), Tango week in Zurich where the participants go to a dance club; surfing, beachvolley ball in France;Horse riding; Of course there are workshops like ' Chemistry is Fun' ! Gees, do you think that I'll join that?! Oh by the way mum & dad, U'll soon get a phone call from me or maybe an email on this special week coz u need to pay...hehe...& of course I gotta discuss with u lah.... =)

The last class was Biology. Again, didn't understand anything. All I knew that she was talking about the heart, coz there were words like 'diastol' n stuff, the lungs,etc...

By 5.30, it was time to go home. I took the train together with 3 other classmates of mine. Hmm...today was not such a bad day. School turned out better than I thought. I know it takes time to make friends & stuff, but sometimes I can't help but remember the good times I had with all my friends back home...=) My classmates were pretty nice, & so were the teachers ( bt i think bcoz I'm new lah....). Anyway, my school time table is pretty good. Like 4 tmr, arts haven't started yet, so my 1st lesson would be sports at 12.15. Thursdays are the best coz I start school at 2pm & end at 5! Yay!

Oh by the way, did I mention that my school, Alte Kantonschule Aarau, is about 200 years old & it really look like an old castle. My Mami's parents went there,my Mami went there, Anja went there....Oh ya, EINSTEIN also went there too! WOW.
