Markt , Auction , Par-tay!
11th June, Saturday - Gotta wake up so bloody early coz it was my turn to go to da markt(market) in Aarau to sell cakes & zopftes. Nico & I went 2 da markt together & then managed to meet up with Patrizia & Tobias.
Every 2 weeks, our class takes turn to sell cakes & zopftes( big loaf of plaited bread, mostly eaten on Sundays) to raise funds for our trip to South Turkey. Today's Nico's,Tobias's, Patrizia's & my turn to sell them in the markt. We placed the cakes & zopfts on the tables. I think that it's such a good idea to do this coz I mean, we get $$$ ! Ok, furthermore, it's a good class project where every1 puts in effort to bake cakes & zopftes( ok, not all the students bake,it's da mothers who do da baking, hehe)
We had 20 zopftes all together, 4 cakes ( where 2 of them were baked by me! ok, not me, but Mami baked them, but I did help her=P) & 'Lieb Kuchen ( a kind of sticky cake). Each zopft was Fr8, n each piece of cake was Fr2.It's actually cheaper than our contender, class 2A, which btw, their stall was just next to us!!!!!!
It was my 1st time selling cakes & zopftes,in Switzerland,in Deutsch!!!! It definitely was a great experience! We greeted the passer-bys, even they didnt' buy anything & they greeted us back. Every1 was so courtues(4got how 2 spell lah) & polite! Guess what, the 20 zopftes were sold out by 9.30am! HOw good is that! Most people who bought cakes & the zopftes just told us to keep the change & wished us to have fun for our trip! How cool is that! If it were in Msia, I guess people would have bargained 4 da lowest price & required 4 da exact change, nothing less. But the ppl here are sooo nice! One lady even just gave us Fr3, without buying anything! Our English teacher came & bought cakes & zopftes from our stall too. Another classmate's mother came & bought a zopfte too. Guess what, she baked the zopftes yesterday for her son to bring them to the markt, & today she bought back her own zopfte! How cool is that!!!?!!!
By 10, there were only 7 pieces of cakes left. It was really good business coz everything were almost sold out( except 4 da 7 pieces of cakes lah), & despite competition from 2A.Hehe...ALl together, it was such a great experience.Selling stuff is an experience, but it's even more interesting when I am facing a whole new crowd where I'm required to to speak Deutsch! HEHe!!! Definitely an unforgettable experience. =D
In the afternoon, I followed Mami & her sister to an auction in Zofingen coz my host aunt wanted to buy a painting, which once belonged to their grandmother. Unfortunately, she died without a will or something like that & her kids all gave them 2 da auction house!!!! Mami had bought a cupboard in the morning with the price of Fr2200, but the estimated value of the cupboard is about Fr11000! I think..... We had to wait 4 a very long time till aunt's paiting's turn.B4 that, Mami bought another paiting for Fr400. It was a good buy coz it was really nice.
IT's interesting in an auction coz like for different art works from the same painted can have so different values. THe 1st painting may be sold for more than Fr5000, but the next, only for Fr300!! THere was another painting(mami's fave) was sold for Fr 35000!!Finally, it was host aunt's painting's turn. IT started off with Fr3000, she raised her number. Well, apperently not only she liked the paiting, others shared the same thought too, coz the price went up to Fr5200! Eventually, she went home empty handed.=(
As for me, I took the train to Zurich coz there was another party as the old exchange students would be leaving soon in July. Frankly, I didn't really want to go. I went just to meet up with some friends. I would've rather joined my friends from school to go to a club in Zurich. THe whole thing was so disorganised!!! WE went all the way to Winterthur Seen, but actually we were supposed to go to Winterthur. We waited for 20min for the next train & went back 2 Winterthur. In the end, we ended up arriving in Winterthur at about 10pm!!I met up with the Msian gals(of course) & Juka(Japan), her 2 swiss friends, Taina, Laura,(both from Brazil), the Aussies, New Zealanders, the Chinese form CHina, Indonesians, ppl from Chile, Panama, etc. THere were lots of ppl, but the party sucked!!! I just hunged around till 11 something & then took the train back 2 Zurich to meet up with my friends. Wasted my Fr5 for that lousy party!!!
Met up with Andy & Sara as the others had gone to a club Klotten. They stayed back 2 wait for me! I feel sooo guilty. Sorry guys...we ended up going 2 McD coz it wasnt worth it to pay & stay for a short while in the club. By 1.11am, we took the last train back 2 Aarau togather with my other friends who came back from Klotten. When Andy & I got to Aarau to catch the night bus back home, the STUPID bus left earlier when it was supposed to leave at 1.45!!! IT left at 1.42!!!! SHAISEH!!!!!!! & that was our LAST bus home!!!!! WE were stuck in Aarau!!!!
We actually thought of sleeping in the train station for da night, but that's too cold 4 us.Plus, I wanna go home coz I was sooooooo tired!!!!To take a taxi would cost more than Fr60 to get home!!! Jonathan & Ozan , coincidently cycled by,& they were surprised to see us there at the bus stop. GRrr...y din I ask them could we put up a nite at their place??!! Well, left with my last option, I called Mami -- 2.15 in the morning!!! Guess what, after 1 ring, my hp shut off coz there was no more battery!! Luckily Andy was with me & we used his hp. Phew! In the end, Papi came all the way to pick us up (from my house to Aarau, it's a 30 min drive)-- which was about 2.45 in the morning! I feel sooooooo terrible to wake them up middle of the nite...x/ Well, if not bcoz of the STUPID BUS which left earlier, all of there wouldn't happened!!!!!Papi sent Andy home & then we went home. By the time, i went to bed, it was well, really late....I was dead tired.....ZZZZZZzzzzzzzz
